Ripping Sheets and other strange events

Do you think these are finished?

Are they done? Have they had their day? Just for the record this was on the honeys side of the bed at his feet...maybe he runs in his sleep.  He rolled over {wasn't making any moves--come on girls} and R IIII P!! we were like--what?  Then he said --do you think you can patch that? hee hee. I got the best giggles!  So newer sheets have been put on and i better pay attention to the thinning this time.

And since we are on strange events -let me tell you another.....
Last tuesday we needed a sub for the soccer team. So i say to the neighbors daughter who plays {wonderful keeper by the way} you wanna come and play? She says sure! Now, i should have known something was going to happen...every time we have asked a sub to come they have gotten hurt! Wracked wrist, gotten screamed at, ...you know. So anyways. She comes. She plays wonderfully and then......pop.  yup, i heard it, the people on the bleachers heard it....um, i think i just broke my ancle was her first words as she is laying on the ground. what?
Long story- sorry. She goes to the doctor the next day- yup BOTH BONES!!! what the?  and a spiral crack on the ancle. What? oh, my!! So one surgery, 2 pins, and 1 plate later she is better. As better as can be. sitting in the recliner watching t.v. and crocheting for the next 6 weeks!  She has been a good sport and hasn't rubbed my nose in the mess i made :) thanks amber.

So, would everyone go on over to her etsy shop
---aggieamber---
and take a look at her crocheted items. She has VERY CUTE headbands!  They are very reasonably priced- so you could buy one or two, because really---- what will she do with that big pile of headbands while she is sitting there recovering and crochetting, crochetting and recovering?
thanks girls- i know i can count on you. :)

Just since i'm sharing wierd anomolies......i had to drive down to the corner to pick up someone because their tire fell off!!! i mean really. all lug nuts- gone. what? in fact the tire had rolled itself across the street into the gutter. poor sister-in-law.  it just isn't fair that car things happen to girls is it? why does it then? Her husband came and i ran up the street {to my home} and got a no work jack-sweet! and he jacked it up and then put the tire back on {there were some definite flats spots on the rotor--like when big wheels skid too much} and then we had to use a coat hanger to keep the rubber flap from catching the tire because it got all twisted up weird like.

What do you think? Anything weird like happening around you? Maybe it is 'in the air'. Share it!! I wanna know if you can beat those. :)

Gobble Gobble...

So the day before Thanksgiving and what would i be doing?  Cooking---of course.  Isn't everyone else around here?  I happen to be making some turkeys with the kids-----yum

Apple Pies for the family parties....

Good thing Thanksgiving isn't at our home--

That would be a compressor on the dining table. Only there a couple of days---had a friend who's dad took apart their beetle bug van engine and it sat on their table for 6 months! lucky for us - the honey actually needs this for work and picked the part up for it today. phew. Still doesn't mean Thanksgiving will be here.

And lookie what i found-

Betz White designed Kleenex boxes....oh so cute! Not the price, but the box. Might have to up-cycle it into a little wrap jobbie....tissue coming out of the top. Hey, that might be actually kind of cute don't ya think?
Must hurry and use them all so i can have it in time!

sniff, sniff.

You are the Best

I had gotten this little goodie from Janis---a new gal in the 'other' quilt group. No, really that is our name. We did that so when anyone asked ?where did you get/do that? we can say---oh, the other group. They stop asking questions. Aren't we clever? Anyways- she made everyone at the quilt retreat. Thanks Janis! i have finally unpacked a bit more from the retreat and found it recently. i know- so bad, but those things got finished--so they just hung around and waited for me to look at them again. Just a not- you pull the ribbon, but don't untie it. The gum just slides right out. slick and soooo cute! Everones had a different stamp- mine- your the best. yup...i know- hee hee

Can anyone out rightly guess what this is? Let me tell you a little story-short one. promise. I have loved MaryJane'sFarm for a long while now---and just recently she came out with a fabric line. oh, yea. i know! how joyous! any-whosies....no one around here carries the line. i even spoke with Joni from Quilter's Haven-
She teased me and said nope- never. Well, guess what?! you will never, so let me tell you. She went to market {I begged, she wouldn't let me come} and went to a little show and tell with ....you guessed it MARY JANE- herself!!!!! weeee She got a bag while leaving just becuase she knew she would give it to ME!!! can you believe? I am lucky! It has some un-stress pills {totally organic}, some wheat noodles, and a little kit for making a scrap hotpad! + the bag! oh my goodies goodness! She totally made my day!

Can anyone beat these friends? Give me a good story...and try.

On the mend

Since this has been my view for the last few days......

I have been slow at doing things girls. sorry. We did make some Bear Bread....

And....I got my wonderful little package from Little T Jane. She was so nice to me.....agreed to do a little trade from the stores......look at the box it came in!!! GO GREEN!!! :) These little books will be going into stockings for Christmas. I know...it's coming! Yikes!

I have a few ideas up my sleeve, so no one go anywhere. I am putting together a tutorial for another pin cushion, and I have a ---what I want for Christmas list--- idea coming up too.
So never fear. I am on the mend and will return with some great stuff!!!!

This weekend is Conference Weekend for us LDS peoples. We enjoy 2 days of wonderful talks about life, love, and keeping our families together in this crazy world. So that means---sewing!!! with headphones or radio near by. WEEEEEE. I don't even have to 'declare' a sewing weekend. I just get one for free!!

I have some tops that i need to get done for others- so those are on the list. I would even like to get some more cranky quilt rows done- so those are on the list......that might be enough. So I will be sharing some sewing stuff also! Can't wait. It has been too long. I hate it when illness gets in my way.

*pst- did you notice the link bar at the top of the page? I know you did. I managed to learn it and then do it! wow. impressed i know. anyways. Don't go pushing it...ok? Well, it won't break, It just puts you back on the main page. I will be fixing that in a few...so hold on. I will let you know when that day comes.

Sewing Stations

This would be first in line to be tackled on the Caps for Sale list. You are assuming that it would be time management. You are wrong. Of course time would be a wise thing, but listen here gals...sewing! that is wise. Makes me sane. Makes my ticker tick. Get it? So first up--not time, but space. Work space for sewing.

The last time i did some sewing there was hardly an space on the cutting mat, so being that there was a monster pile next to the tiny space I took the 'big guns' {elbow} and shoved everything over. This of course didn't solve anything and now--the piles {i am a piler, i admitted it earlier} are now toppling over.

So here is a bit before: never mind that. too embarrased to show. There was even sewing stuff on the chair! no place to sit. Over flowing garbage, everything on the edge....along with me. so too bad. no peekie there.

After:

What do you think? Sweet huh? Oh, yea. I can see the mat!!!!! all 36 inches of it!!!! weeeee.

Oh and look at all the table space {sewing machine is waiting its turn to be put into place}.

Now the 'cap' fits. No more tight squeezes here.

Plenty of space for me and my elbows and big headed ideas.

* pst- Marilyn has a great organization vidoe here to take a look at. If you need any help or more ideas. She shared these ideas with our quilt group. Lots of goodies.

Caps for Sale...

Remember that book? The guy with the tall pile of caps on his head? The monkeys teasing him in the tree. Stealing his hats......Do you feel like that sometimes? The caps part. That big pile of caps that are stacked upon our heads. Each representing some part of our responsibilities.

a few of mine:

motherhood
wifely duties
real estate agent
maker of Whatnots and selling them in Whosies store
Encourager of anyone {most of the time}
School work helper {didn't want to say 'teacher' because no credentials here- just a mom who homeschools kids}
Entrepreneur
Dreamer
Designer
Utah Quilt Guild Area rep
Helper of quilt groups
Manager of quilting retreats
Comforter
Blogger
Reader of Blogs
Watcher of people
Whip cracker {not literally- gals, come on now}

The list could really go on and on couldn't it? You were bored though with it all about me so i spared you.

I am wondering if we can sell some of these caps? Not PAY others to take the cap {house cleaner, babysitter, lawn guys, drive through window dinners}, but have someone purchase them from us. You know, some one who would think that THEY need to build that talent or whatever and are willing to do an 'apprenticeship' with out cap. Wouldn't that be great? Even if it wasn't long term. Just for a bit so we can get a handle on things......does that ever happen?

I am in this thinking mode of ----how can i make all those caps fit---- What needs to be done to make that happen? I will be exploring this for the a bit of time. Care to come along?
ok- no mumbling in the back there. There is definitly some sewing along the way too.
Just to prove it and show you i can produce something: This is what i did this weekend at a little sewing meeting. Pattern is Jelleystone Roll or something like that. Quick pattern.

Used a jelly roll -that was a bit obvious- that i have had for 3 years now. yikes. Won it at a retreat. I love it. Kansas City Troubles. Love them. Here are a few. Can't wait to put the top together, but i will have to. That cap doesn't fit.......yet.

i couldn't leave it that way

i was having issues with the last post. i mean, there were a few goodies...but no pictures. So without bla bla-ing too much. Here are some pics. Maybe you just need a good laugh. Sometimes i can supply it. Today would be that sometime. Go ahead. Laugh away.

in the picture would be annie in the striped shirt--{makes those cute headbands} and left the photo shoot early, Amy, Heather, and me. The goof ball who can't stand still. Maybe it's because my hair is HORENDOUS!! {roots showing, out of its style, dry, just blah}. even the princess wand tucked behind the ear can't make up for it.

Did i really hit the post button? once it's out there i can't take it back can i.
Thanks amy for sharing your camera and sending me those goodies. {notice--she didn't post them on her blog.} interesting.

Keeping it PG

I got another pair of blocks in the mail! They are from anonomous. Really. No return label, no note...just a mystery. I am not sure why, they are made great and are really cute. No reason to fear!

Take a look at what i snagged at the garage sales on saturday. One dishtowel with birds- singing this time. cute stuff. And i am thinking they are bread warmer hankies. You know the ones that fold to the center.

I also got some glass salt and pepper shakers. They have been loaded with some button bouquets for the show this weekend. Love them!!!

there were some great cards too. They are so different. Some long and skinny

some round ones that fold in half

here are my 2 favorite. They have little flaps that open! how fun is that?!

There were some 'party' favors too. Funny. what were they thinking? Who bought these?---ok. well, i did. but still not to use...just to giggle at, and maybe sell in the store.

The Utah Quilt Guild is doing something fun for next years annual meeting {not that they do boring things before}. They are doing an Alphabet Quilt Show. So you take a letter --i got the o for 'owl' and whosies--i can sneak that one in can't i? You make it a certain size or something, has alphabet material on the back, and then they display them all in a row at once. We give up the rights for one year as they travel around and get shown off! How excited am i? Need you even ask?

Since Jarom turned 9 that mean in scout world that he recieves his Wolf. Of course, after he earns it. So here he is after the painting on his cheek and rain gutter ragata. (didn't win, but did great). I so need to learn how to use my flash!

Yesterday was quite a day. Took the turkey to Yeni's home and she did the 'duty' of getting him ready for the freezer. I won't go into any specifics here for the rating is a bit more gorey than pg. Needless to say, i was VERY thankful that she lent me some clean clothes, washed my clothes i was wearing (including my shoes), let me leave when i just didn't want to help--to the other room to check on the clothes, and took time out from her day to do it! All i had to offer was a loaf of fresh wheat bread.....clearly that is not enough. I will be thinking of something to send in a little package sometime soon. The turkey---he is in the freezer----all 30-35 pounds of him. I know!! he is HUGE!!! {and to think he was only like 4 months old too} It was definitly a Holy Hanah moment, but not in the same ranking as the other Holy Hanah moments.
Quilt Group tonight!!!! {and Friday night too} I know, i can't stand it either. Double bonus week! I surely deserve it that is for sure. + the Oh Sweet Sadie Boutique is this weekend. Setting up Thursday. Yikes! I have some work to do still!! ugh. I was so hoping to be ahead of it this time.....clearly i like the trailing position.
{that sounds for positive than procrastination- doesn't it}
