What's that you say?

That is my reaction to anyone speaking to me today......eh? speak up child i can't hear you....the ears, plugged. The nose plugged. The chest plugged. Just a bunch of the yuckies here.
I do have some weekend goodies to show off:

Do you see the wool batting? oh, my goodness...i really have to think hard on what to use it on. sooo excited.

I picked up a nice sewing box for a retreat coming up {i am in charge of finding prizes + games}

I also got some cute buttons, and some teacups for a sewing project.--another retreat.

These are a bit kookie--but are new and if i cut it in half and then sew it together again, they will make some nice grocery bags.

I met Kari- from fresh cut quilts. She has some GREAT patterns girls. and she was just featured on Moda Bake shop. Her techinique for doing the half square triangles---pure genious. She donated a couple bags of salvege pieces + 2 1 yard cuts of fabric. THANKS!!!!! she was so helpful with it and i even got to pick her brain for a bit on business sort of stuff....hopeing that picking will continue. It is harvest season after all.

The other things---2 rolls and 5 fat quarters were bought for the retreat too. Not too bad of loot. eh?

So off i go to sleep some more and whine a bit.
At least it will be quiet in my plugged world.......

Keeping it PG

I got another pair of blocks in the mail! They are from anonomous. Really. No return label, no note...just a mystery. I am not sure why, they are made great and are really cute. No reason to fear!

Take a look at what i snagged at the garage sales on saturday. One dishtowel with birds- singing this time. cute stuff. And i am thinking they are bread warmer hankies. You know the ones that fold to the center.

I also got some glass salt and pepper shakers. They have been loaded with some button bouquets for the show this weekend. Love them!!!

there were some great cards too. They are so different. Some long and skinny

some round ones that fold in half

here are my 2 favorite. They have little flaps that open! how fun is that?!

There were some 'party' favors too. Funny. what were they thinking? Who bought these?---ok. well, i did. but still not to use...just to giggle at, and maybe sell in the store.

The Utah Quilt Guild is doing something fun for next years annual meeting {not that they do boring things before}. They are doing an Alphabet Quilt Show. So you take a letter --i got the o for 'owl' and whosies--i can sneak that one in can't i? You make it a certain size or something, has alphabet material on the back, and then they display them all in a row at once. We give up the rights for one year as they travel around and get shown off! How excited am i? Need you even ask?

Since Jarom turned 9 that mean in scout world that he recieves his Wolf. Of course, after he earns it. So here he is after the painting on his cheek and rain gutter ragata. (didn't win, but did great). I so need to learn how to use my flash!

Yesterday was quite a day. Took the turkey to Yeni's home and she did the 'duty' of getting him ready for the freezer. I won't go into any specifics here for the rating is a bit more gorey than pg. Needless to say, i was VERY thankful that she lent me some clean clothes, washed my clothes i was wearing (including my shoes), let me leave when i just didn't want to help--to the other room to check on the clothes, and took time out from her day to do it! All i had to offer was a loaf of fresh wheat bread.....clearly that is not enough. I will be thinking of something to send in a little package sometime soon. The turkey---he is in the freezer----all 30-35 pounds of him. I know!! he is HUGE!!! {and to think he was only like 4 months old too} It was definitly a Holy Hanah moment, but not in the same ranking as the other Holy Hanah moments.
Quilt Group tonight!!!! {and Friday night too} I know, i can't stand it either. Double bonus week! I surely deserve it that is for sure. + the Oh Sweet Sadie Boutique is this weekend. Setting up Thursday. Yikes! I have some work to do still!! ugh. I was so hoping to be ahead of it this time.....clearly i like the trailing position.
{that sounds for positive than procrastination- doesn't it}

Screaming........

with excitement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh, boy was i EVER!!! Screaming!! i called a few people and screamed at them too!!!! -thanks for listening to that--
So what in the world was i all excited about (you thought i was angry, didn't you?) Well, before you start screaming at me.....here is a picture hint.......

It is just what you are thinking it is.

A Singer Feather Weight

No, it didn't arrive in the mail (that would be the logical guess since i have been recieving a few things). I found her at a YARD SALE!!!! yup, that's right. She sat there all lonely like, and i didn't even notice her until i was paying the gal for a few items..can you believe?..and there she was...on the table sitting in her box with the lid open. EEP! i almost jumped, but i held it together and asked in the calmest manner i could....how much for the sewing machine in the box? (in my mind i am thinking---ok, i'll spend how much? $50, $100...what is my limit?) but she said oh, um, how about $10 bucks!!!!!!!! I didn't type that wrong gals, TEN DOLLARS!!! So i handed her the money in a casual way- told the kids, lets go and while driving down the street screeched for JOY!!!
So here she is with all the goodies (a box with stuff she said she didn't need).

A button holer attachment, A Blind Stitch attachment, and something with a wheel that looks like it cuts -pinking sheer- not sure still what that is.

Here is her box. She came with her instruction manual, and a bunch of bobbins, an extra -sort of rusty bobbin case, and some misc extra stuff. The box has 2 oil cans and it DOESN'T stink!!
I haven't looked her up yet to see if she has any history. Just taking it slowly. She turns on, light works, and she stitches. She does get a bit tangled--need to work on that.
For right now, she sits. In the center of the dining room table. Being admired from everyone (really it's mostly just me). She gives me a smile. I need a name too. Any suggestions? I guess that means i will keep her. I am not sure that i will be able to top the purchase (even though the kids got a big set of legos for $2-good stuff). But, who's trying?

Have a good find you want to share? Let us all know. We like to hear those screams of joy!!

Speaking of screaming announcements...anita from florida got her 'in the leafy treetops quilt' DONE!!!! yay for you!!! i love the nest and the batik leaves, and the branches look more realistic than mine. i'd like to know the sectret.....Great job. Turned out Perfect don't you think?

*pst--don't forget to sign up for the postcard swap. We would love to have you come play! Cheap swap girls, cheap swap. That's how i like them. :)
**pst pst-- did you make your own photo stitchery? Share it at the flickr group--- we all want to see how it turned out.

Uppers

Mostly very random items. Nothing that needs its very own posting, but great in a collective....like the borg maybe. hee hee
ok. 1st up......what i got in the mail!! i love getting surprise packages in the mail don't you? Well, i do. so there.
Everything is like a little upper. You can squeal with delight, oooo and aaaa, and then when it's all over with you can just sit in your chair and stare. Then you can turn the pages, or pet the fabric, and then stare some more. You know how it goes. Who needs drugs when you can get the same euphoria from getting wonderful little things. Not that i would know. i wouldn't ...ok.....Carry on.....

Remember i won? of course you do!! well, it arrived.

My wonderful Knippie magazine from the netherlands. oh, this is such good stuff girls. Everything is in its place. cutsie pictures, patterns in the center and ready for some stitch'n I am thinking that the front cover corduroy skirt is a go. well, of course all the extra goodies that were sent along with it are covering it!

I also got my book. YUp, i know........excitement for books and magazines. What can i say? This one is Style Statement. It is all about finding 'yourself' and what that is all about. She says that once i figure that out, i can make better decisions. Aren't we always re-inventing ourselves. Wondering who we are, what we are going to do --when we grow up. ok. maybe there are only a handful of us...me included. but i am reading it and i am going to figure that one out. see, it works...i have already made a good decision.

I also got my first 2 blocks from the christmas block exchange! fun stuff!! i am excited to see what else i get. I will be getting those blocks out this week! remember....already done. see how handy that is? no stress, pressure. Just wondering when will i actually send it.

This little beauty was picked up at the garage sales this last week. It should be a complete kit for the little house. As if i need another project, but she had one finished and it really was kind of cute like. So i will give it a try. The honey is a wood man and so there are plenty of tools around here for the job...believe me.

Is there anyone out there that know of Tasha Tudor? They are doing a little tasha tudor day on friday for her. I might have something fun to do for it....still in the thinking tank. anyways.... Now, i pounced upon her book and ate every page of it a while ago. {ok, i just read it. but if was more like consumption. do you do that some times?} She is my second ALL TIME FAVORITE LADY!!! first being mary jane. They both are intriuging gals and are just what you want to be....well, me. Hey that's it. i don't need that book. i just need to see if mary jane is my style statement and go for that. hee hee ok, ok....Go take a look see. You definitly won't regret it.

I have been hitting the expanding world of blogs lately. Mostly on Business stuff. Funny how you go in cycles. All, crafty, then loving one blog, then a talky one, then a sassy one....then moving to another, then i am in business land. Always learning girls, always learning. Here are some of the ones i've hopped onto. Go take a look if this is your area of interest at the moment.
Do you have any favorites? Post a comment and leave us a link. Aren't we all a little bit addicted to the blog world in one way or another. A little 'upper' won't hurt anyone will it? anyone? anyone? Didn't think so. So bring it on.....the links that is.
Thanks i needed that.

Sing a song.....or hum one

I picked up a few things at the garage sales --for a song. not that i was singing...well, maybe just humming...but the price was great for these goodies.

A X-stitch of a quilt!!! 2 goodies for one low price. The gal said her mom made it. The 'blocks' are 2 1/2 inch square. Not big and it is on Aida, but the count is tiny. I have always fancied these, but never have made one. now i don't have to! + it is framed and double matted. gotta love that.

Buttons--now who has enough of these? not me!! They have been added to the mega pickle jar of button collections. yay!

Lovely, oh so lovely sheet, and some pillow cases. Love the butterfly one and the big huge ruffle on the little blue flower. They are all washed and ready for up-cycling.

Did a little bit of quilting on saturday. Since it rained for a good part of the afternoon. Got this big beauty done. 108"X 87" something like that. just big gals. It came with that box of fabric :) but the one giving it said they would like it for someone in their church. I am not professional, but occasionaly do paid quilting for others.

I think i should sing more when shopping. Maybe that will be bring more goodies my way.

Embroidery Pig

I hit an estate sale on Saturday-----whooaaa nelli. It was like walking into an embroidery zone. They had it all laid out pretty like on a table in one room......i just snatched it ALL!! what an embroidery pig, huh? I didn't share with anyone. I even went into the basement and found another pile in a box they hadn't laid out and snatched all of those too. oink.

This was all of their moms stuff and she even said - i bet there is some grandma items in there too. So take a little 'walk' with me through all of these embroidered goodies by Nellie (that isn't her name...but you'll think it fits). I will narrate. If you want to ask a question or have a comment---wait to the end. no need to raise your hand, just post it in the comment section. ;)

4 table cloths
question-the one on the right. there are 2. are these baby burpies? cute duck and lamb and sort of a long and skinny shape with the blue cotton trim on bottom.
table runners w/crochet edging
matching set of 3 placemats and center piece
matching set- 2 placemats, long table runner, one small table runner

small table cloths. check out the diagonal corner?
sugar sacks. see the deer on the left? white fawn milling company. cute
2 towels and 1 waltzing matilda story panel. hmmmmm
3 bird appliqued towels. These things are HUGE!! you could wrap a dripping baby in these if you wanted to.
these are my favorites:
toaster cover. not stitched, but still way cute.
Toaster cover backside
mixer cover. again, not stitched--but we'll forgive.
mixer cover backside

toaster cover.
Is that a hot cup of cocoa? jam? what is is supposed to be?
It has been patched a few times, but still cute stuff.
What do you think of Nellies embroidery? she had a good eye and some pretty good talent too.
I have decided that i have plenty of embroidered goodies in my stash, and so after i sift through these and then my mom wants second dibs....i will have some in the store so you too can be an embroidered pig. No one will say anything about it...because they are just jealous.
oink.oink.
