I don't do monsters

I participated in this monster swap.. I am not one to make monsters. i thought it would be fun to go a bit beyond the normal around here. It is hard to make a monster girls! I have been  taught that this is not my area of expertise. i need some practice apparently, but not sure if that will be happening in the near future.    This is the little guy that i sent and i am waiting for my little one to show up. Here is a picture gallery of all the lovely  monstery monsters.

He wears his heart on his sleeve and has a crow as a companion. The one eyed cyclopse with a smile...i really can't make them mean looking! funny.

Tangled Floss
I have a few strands of embroidery floss for stitching- the thicker kind..that just don't stay straight.  Don't you hate it when you pull on the end and it all tangles up?

You have the same issue? I could roll them onto the paper or plastic cards, but to tell you the truth i think they are all used up, or they are hiding from me. Any whosies...I saw the little pile of wood spools and thought. why don't i just load them onto the spool?

All nice and tidy like....go on give it a try or a roll, or a wrap. Whatever you would like.
What -you ask am i doing with that embroidery floss?

This of course is part of the Secret......ah. man girls- i am mean......like a monster----arrr.

Embroidery Pig

I hit an estate sale on Saturday-----whooaaa nelli. It was like walking into an embroidery zone. They had it all laid out pretty like on a table in one room......i just snatched it ALL!! what an embroidery pig, huh? I didn't share with anyone. I even went into the basement and found another pile in a box they hadn't laid out and snatched all of those too. oink.

This was all of their moms stuff and she even said - i bet there is some grandma items in there too. So take a little 'walk' with me through all of these embroidered goodies by Nellie (that isn't her name...but you'll think it fits). I will narrate. If you want to ask a question or have a comment---wait to the end. no need to raise your hand, just post it in the comment section. ;)

4 table cloths
question-the one on the right. there are 2. are these baby burpies? cute duck and lamb and sort of a long and skinny shape with the blue cotton trim on bottom.
table runners w/crochet edging
matching set of 3 placemats and center piece
matching set- 2 placemats, long table runner, one small table runner
small table cloths
small table cloths. check out the diagonal corner?
sugar sacks. see the deer on the left? white fawn milling company. cute
2 towels and 1 waltzing matilda story panel. hmmmmm
3 bird appliqued towels. These things are HUGE!! you could wrap a dripping baby in these if you wanted to.
these are my favorites:
toaster cover. not stitched, but still way cute.
Toaster cover backside
mixer cover. again, not stitched--but we'll forgive.
mixer cover backside

toaster cover.
Is that a hot cup of cocoa? jam? what is is supposed to be?
It has been patched a few times, but still cute stuff.
What do you think of Nellies embroidery? she had a good eye and some pretty good talent too.
I have decided that i have plenty of embroidered goodies in my stash, and so after i sift through these and then my mom wants second dibs....i will have some in the store so you too can be an embroidered pig. No one will say anything about it...because they are just jealous.
oink.oink.

Watch they're gonna get ya!

I finished last night the 2nd block of the month stitchery from http://www.lynetteandersondesigns.typepad.com/ blog.
how cute is that!! I am actually liking this stitch thing. These are so small and petite. love that!
Went to quilt group last night. We worked on making flannel rag quilts to donate to the Festival of Trees in the fall. There were a few who stayed a little longer and gabbed and sewed and gabbed some more. Nice to get away and really do nothing, but enjoy other sewers company.
OHHHHHHH, let me tell you. i think i might have found a new obsession. i am not sure what is wrong with me!! he he...
I was looking around in the blog world and popped onto someones site. She was chatting and mentions Japanese Crafty books. So of course i had to look into that! welll, YA. so after a little hounding on Etsy, and then on Ebay and then in the cyber world....i think i Love Japanese Craft books. They are nuts! they are of course, written in Japanese (no suprise there) BUT WAIT--- they have wonderful pictures and step by step pictures for the projects. so if you are able to get past the language barrier----you could make some cute stuff. I think that i want to get all the books i like and have them printed into english. How cool would that be!? so here are some links that you might want to look at concerning the books.
http://simbiosis-lifeinasmalltown.blogspot.com/ scroll down on her talking. she show off her books. by the way she has WAY cute stuff on her etsy shop and she is having a sale.
http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZcharmingbabe click on a book and you can check out their wonderful pictures and such.
I am going to put a disclaimer on here:
If for any reason you become addicted to these books, I claim FULL responsibility!!
Don't say i didn't warn you!

Embroidery bunny and pal

I occasionally go to a thrift store and find some little goodies. i love garage sales and none have started this season yet. i am getting a little antsy.
Saturday i went and picked these two things up. I kind of like embroideries, so these were keepers. i usually look over these kind of things, but everyone has been doing such cute things with theirs. i wanted to give it a try.
There is one thing though...I have a delima that i can't seem to decide on. See the little bunny one? There are some stitches missing. Sooooo do i fix them? or do i leave them? What is anyones feeling?

I haven't decided what to do with them so any suggestions would be great too. I am thinking maybe a pocket face on a bag/purse. Something of that matter. not sure. I have one little 6 year old guy who really likes Racoons. Could he have too many? What should i do with that one?

ok. enough questions. Maybe i need to sleep on it and then read all my quilt books and such to get some ideas. A stitching dream would be nice. I like those kind! I can figure out a whole lot when that happens.

The weather was beautiful today. i made the kids go out and get some excercise and fresh air....always make them....what about me? yikes!
hopefully tomorrow will be a good one too.
I got a little quilting done for my sister-in-law. It is an easy pattern and that makes my life nice. i will post it in the next couple days to show it off. She is a great peicer and everything lays flat and wonderful. no puckers, or suckers! great stuff.
