ALIVE........and stitching

so i survived, or the girls did!! I am going to toot my own horn--just for a bit. you can handle it. of course.
We had a bunch of fun!! All the girls are sooo good and excited about doing whatever. They were helpful and engaged--most of the time. They had mini classes on tying knots (and then twizzlers and hair bows), using a compass, square dancing- pro girl caller-super fantastic, making leather pouches, story teller-another pro-very fun, dutch oven cooking with rolls and butter to shake, making swaps of course, and singing camp songs.

Let me complain---just another bit. hold on there is sewing coming-good too. i promise.

There were kinks EVERYDAY. Last year, nothing was changed this year, the schedule was changed, i can't tell you how many times. I had a tick in my right eye going crazy, but only around my one stress......a mom. She and i butted many times and it was constant negativity from her. :( didn't make the big job easy i tell you. I lived to tell the tale though and loved all 109 girls!! yippeeee.....it's over.

Now, onto some family stuff. i know you were expecting sewing stuff, but i have to catch up on the family, just for another little bit. Hang on ok.

We went and stayed at mom moms the 3rd and went fishing at the fish farm. all the grand kids got to catch something and then we cooked it up at their house. so here is a few pics of the fishing and fun!!

the one on the top- alec...he fell in right after this pic. :)
trying our talent at scooping them out of the water. look at the tail! eeeewwww.

1 caught- not by hand though.

2 caught.

3 caught.

4 attempting to catch. he was the last one. Ammon, on the left.

How many men does it take to catch one fish?

Playing with the caught ones.

Now STITCHING STUFF!!! you have been so patient. thanks! Last night was the summer dinner party for one of the quilt groups. that is soooo what i needed, let me tell you!

Cranky Quilt Blocks:

I LOVE the 30's prints!!! Love them!!!

Party favors---these were on the tables for everyone to take home. They were just yummy! thanks angie!

Swap- we made something and then got to take something home. Table of swaps:

My contribution--the little red needle case and zipper top bag, + the bag they are laying on.

My pick:

close up of the pillow:

We had all the chocolate quilts hung up on some line so we could see them all. They are just toooo cute! Here is some chocolatey goodness: I love how they are each different and exactly what the sewer wants.

Want the pattern? Go here to get it. Quilting Melodies.

Wow- that was long! I did have to catch up and feel much better now. So off i go to make the kids do some jobs, make me do some jobs, and then maybe...just maybe i will sew something today. The deadline for the inspiration piece is july 13th. it is coming quick! i can feel the pressure. It's good pressure though, not negative.

Are you a Yo Guy?

My kids have funny little names for things. If they don't like something it is "Johny". If it is super bad it is "Johny Wickstone" Things like that just stick for them. They even have names for each other. They use those names when playing house. JO-JO, Honey, Tabeal, and Best Buddy. It is quite entertaining to listen to them play. They make me laugh.

Here is the newest craze: Yo- Yo Guy. Not pronounced like the yo-yo toy, but in the cool "yo yo dawg" Randy Jackson sort of way.
So i asked "what makes you a yo yo guy?" There is i guess a few things that you need.
Here are the criteria.

* Do you Wear a hat?
* Wear your hat sideways or backwards?
* Have a white tank top. You know, the ribbed kind?
* Do you take off your shirt in the winter to show off the white tank?
* Does your underwear show?
* Do you ride a skateboard or maybe a bike that is too small for you?
* Do you wear shorts? but they might look like pants?
* Do you wear tight pants?
* Do you have a weird looking girl friend?
* Does she have black hair or maybe purple?
* Do you do tricks in front of people so they notice you?
* Do you have a chain connected to your wallet?
* Do you do your tricks in the middle of the road?
* Do you have fat shoes that don't have any laces?
* Job? Questionable.

If you have answered yes to a majority of these apparently you are considered a yo-yo dude.
You can spot them anywhere. Mine do---hey there's a yo-yo dude! yeah, i'm yo....yo.

Jarom says he doesn't want to be a yo yo dude. Just a cool yo dude.

Piles

Are there little piles hounding you too? Well, I guess not really hounding. Just hanging out. Waiting for their turn. Waiting...waiting...and waiting some more.
A pile of sewing machine. Not set up, ran, or loved since this last weekend. How sad is that? :(

A pile of quilts that need to be quilted. This is not my pile, but of quilts that i need to quilt for others. Come on girls, my pile is like 2 times this amount and that might be a little understated ;) Maybe getting this pile done will inspire me to do some others...............ok. who am i kidding?

A pile of pants. Holes in the knees. But they still fit the boys. They will be chopped and hemmed into shorts. Perfect timing. They keep running down to the basement and digging out some old ones.

A pile of Derby cars from last night. Aren't they just the cutest? See the remote control? brown one is a Beaver, and Jerikas is the top left one ---rainbow. Such a happy world isnt' it? Turned out perfect. The girls had fun. I feel relieved. Parents were nice....all good stuff. oh, i do have to do a bit of Bragging for just a moment. 6 girls recieved their Bronze Award also. This is a 15 hour service that they have to do + earn many badges that relate to the service to recieve it. Great stuff isn't it? They are great too.

There are so many other piles around here but really there isn't enough time to share them all. One thing at a time.......one thing at a time.
