Ripping Sheets and other strange events

Do you think these are finished?

Are they done? Have they had their day? Just for the record this was on the honeys side of the bed at his feet...maybe he runs in his sleep.  He rolled over {wasn't making any moves--come on girls} and R IIII P!! we were like--what?  Then he said --do you think you can patch that? hee hee. I got the best giggles!  So newer sheets have been put on and i better pay attention to the thinning this time.

And since we are on strange events -let me tell you another.....
Last tuesday we needed a sub for the soccer team. So i say to the neighbors daughter who plays {wonderful keeper by the way} you wanna come and play? She says sure! Now, i should have known something was going to happen...every time we have asked a sub to come they have gotten hurt! Wracked wrist, gotten screamed at, ...you know. So anyways. She comes. She plays wonderfully and then......pop.  yup, i heard it, the people on the bleachers heard it....um, i think i just broke my ancle was her first words as she is laying on the ground. what?
Long story- sorry. She goes to the doctor the next day- yup BOTH BONES!!! what the?  and a spiral crack on the ancle. What? oh, my!! So one surgery, 2 pins, and 1 plate later she is better. As better as can be. sitting in the recliner watching t.v. and crocheting for the next 6 weeks!  She has been a good sport and hasn't rubbed my nose in the mess i made :) thanks amber.

So, would everyone go on over to her etsy shop
---aggieamber---
and take a look at her crocheted items. She has VERY CUTE headbands!  They are very reasonably priced- so you could buy one or two, because really---- what will she do with that big pile of headbands while she is sitting there recovering and crochetting, crochetting and recovering?
thanks girls- i know i can count on you. :)

Just since i'm sharing wierd anomolies......i had to drive down to the corner to pick up someone because their tire fell off!!! i mean really. all lug nuts- gone. what? in fact the tire had rolled itself across the street into the gutter. poor sister-in-law.  it just isn't fair that car things happen to girls is it? why does it then? Her husband came and i ran up the street {to my home} and got a no work jack-sweet! and he jacked it up and then put the tire back on {there were some definite flats spots on the rotor--like when big wheels skid too much} and then we had to use a coat hanger to keep the rubber flap from catching the tire because it got all twisted up weird like.

What do you think? Anything weird like happening around you? Maybe it is 'in the air'. Share it!! I wanna know if you can beat those. :)

Counting the Stitches

Here is a little do-dad heart ornament i finished up! It is all wool and Angie shared the pattern with the quilt group 2 weeks ago....i know, it took me all this time to get that little thing finished!

Until the Christmas Tree is set up it will just have to wait patiently while hanging from the cupboard in the living room.  Love it though...thanks for sharing!

And, just becuase  I need something else to do---no really i do. I really don't mind counting stitches.  I have always been a X-stitcher and normal stitcher and crocheter and whatever sewer of the number sort. I like that kind of thing...kind of like counting the stairs when i go up or down {shhhhh, don't tell}.  So this is kind of a mind relaxer......yes. mmmmmm....why? why? do i need a brain relax?  BECAUSE---
I have sat too long at the computer--It is not my fault though! It is that wonderful surprise that i am trying not to spill coming the week after Thanksgiving.  But, i swear my brain is going to BURST!!!!

I got this great pattern and a few others becuase I traded a few things with Hollandesigns.  Girls, if you want anything in the slipper arena or even the fingerless glove thing you go there! She has some great patterns. For CROCHET too!!! yea!! everyone is a knitter {but me} so finding a liker of the crochet with wonderfully cute and so far easy patterns was such a treat!

Now, my little toesies will be kept warm while sitting at the computer..........

pst--tonight is quilt night. bingo game with prizes...hope i win a few goodies!

Idol time?

Do you have any idol time? Not here.....at least lately. Of course that would be my own fault. Now, i do find that i don't have much time....because i am sewing and stuff in between everything else. My evenings are the best time for me to sit and do whatever i would like.

I thought though that when i watch the t.v. i should be doing something too. (i have a hard time just sitting for a long time). This is what i came up with. Crochet. I used to do A Lot of this 10 years ago....haven't done anything for awhile.

I picked up this little book at Joannes that had a few projects in it. It has a pattern for a hat. I have never done a hat before....and one with ribbing! New to me!! I figured it out and went for it. Take a look:

It fits her just nice.....might try it again. The pattern doesn't have you do it in a circle though and so it has a seam down the back. I might try tweaking it just a bit so i can do it in a round......hmmmm
Went to quilt group last night....was ALL excited...a trunk show....nancy halverson.....wow. But, alas it stunk!!! We sat in the room. There were examples on the table in front of us. There were a few books (last years christmas one)....most of the ladies had it already. The gal presenting it says...here is her stuff, cute huh?, oh, is that cake?.....walkes off...look at it at your leasure.... At my leasure? i wanted good instruction on who is she? is she utahn? yes... How long quilting? things like that. I wanted to touch, oooo, aaaaa, over it. nothing. hmmmmph. I was there for a total of 1 hour...that was shopping in the store time + wandering time +show and tell time + gabbing time... :(
I did find a few things that caught my eye:

Cute gift bags. Made out of a tea towel. Appliqued then a handle added or a pull ribbon that was threaded through the top. No need to do finished edges...it's all done for you!!

There was a gal that showed off her "2000" quilt. yes there are 2000 blocks in there + the wonderful applique border. whew. not sure if i should make me one of those. 8 years late...but looks like she is still on time :)

Just thought i would share some spools of thread that i picked up at the salvage store today. The back 2 are wool blends and the front is cotton. I might try another warm hat or something with those. Of course while sitting in front of the t.v.
