These are her wonderul Shephards Bush x-stitched stockings.

We picked names earlier and made our gal partner an apron! oh, i love aprons don't you? I constantly wipe my hands on the pants...so i always need them covered. :)

This one i made for Marilyn. Funny with chocolate cupcake pocket of course. Used the tutorial over on the side but made it larger for an adult. Not hard.

This one was made by Janis--Amy wasn't there to recieve it so it isn't in the picture below.

Here we all together......wendy, me, karen {my mom}, Marilyn, Julie, Angie,

Here I go again......

on my own......going down the only road i've ever known.....

That would be the road to retreats. Boy, this month was a great one wasn't it? Sewing, Quilting, and Retreating!!! Overflowing with goodness, and friends of course. So this is the place out in Duchesne. Way in the middle of nowhere---but what does that matter when you have good company, and your sewing machine along side? I think i went outside twice. Once when I got there and once when i left. hee hee.

For some reason i only have this picture of the girls. There were 5 of us, so me and the other--janis... are hiding.

ok. really there was an additional lizard who decided to take a little swim in the sink. Does he count? He didn't bring his sewing items....so no. he doesn't.

I wore my comphy pants and my snuggle soft slippers. mmmmmmm

Take a look at the bed. I was all snuggled in goodness. A num, num, num, num......cookies...

Speaking of numminess. My mom has been collecting these for me from a local quilt shop- one for each month. I had a pile waiting to be done....and i done them!!! yay!! cupcakes!!
I have more nummies to share, of the quilting related items, but no pics yet. Soon, soon.
Goal this week: quilt, quilt and then quilt some more!!!! I know, i have sewed, sewed, and sewed some more and now i have a pile of quilting. So i must now quilt.  So don't miss out on seeing the goods.

Speaking of seeing the goods......guess who is going to see the Free Pattern Goods from the store?
That would be
Who guessed: 60
I will be emailing you the reminder. yay for you!!
Now, i know you are all happy for her, but are dying to know how many little rolls there were in that jar. How about 82!!! I know, everyone was so low. Not sure what happened there. I am sure that if you were able to hold and admire and gander just a bit at the jar that you would all get it right.

I only surround myself with smarties.

Play along winner

Thanks for playing along girls. it was a lot of fun to snoop in everyones side tables.....wasn't it?! The play along was fun. i think i might have another one. Sometime. Don't know when it will hit me. or you :)

Now for the winner.
I went with the one most like my own. That would be .......

She has the biggest mess...take a look at all that stuff. i say that in a nice way of course...in a way that only i can understand since that is most definitly how mine looks. I had to clear away the sewing bags in front of it before i could take my picture. I should have left them there. That would have scared people though, so i spared you.

Thanks Mandy for taking a chance and letting us all snoop and for playing along!! Let me know what you would like and it is yours!! 2 patterns for you + boy or girl for the summer traveler guy + i need your address and good stuff so you can get it all. email me.... bekntab4(at)yahoo(dot)com

A bit of closer views:

Those green polkas are a little hard to photograph. uugghh.
A bit more info:

Of course it would be available at the shop.
A peak at the quilting on the back. it was a fun one.

There are some great adventures planned for this summer--i even wish i was coming along with you...oh, maybe i should have done a giveaway with myself!! take me on your vacation. but i digress. -- I know i said exotic, but i am in charge. i get to choose, and decide....so here they really are in my own opinion of exotic travel.
*disclosure--there were a few great exotic places stated, but no link backs. i am a sewer, not a private investigator or good researcher and so they weren't winners...sorry*

Lauren in California is going to Kauai this summer. Woohoo!
*I LOOOVVVVEEEE Kauai- i would live there if i could. i couldn't resist. you must send pics and share :) *

Kristin Wood said...
Kristin from Northwest Arkansas. I would love the Squiggly Waves Baby Quilt pattern to make for my new niece...it's absolutely adorable. I'd make the octopus pink, so cute for a girl!

**That is too funny. really i didn't plan it. Kristin you can really pick whatever pattern though. i won't hold ya to your comment.**

Winner #4: Heavenly Bliss Quilt Pattern
Random guy choose #80
Deanna said...
I'm in Dallas, TX - yeee haw!I like the little dolls - so I think I would love to have a pattern to try and make them!No fun trips planned around here for the summer -Thanks!
Did you still want one of your own? Link on over and purchase it from Angie. She would love some business.

**I did love all the 'melting chocolate comments' ** I will pass your info on to Angie and she will get that to you!!**

Winner #5: Chocolate Bunny
Dr. Bec
I'm in Central Kentucky. Chocolate Bunny would hang here with Henry, who loves to spend time OUTSIDE! Mr. Bunny would slide the slide, swing the swings, dig the dirt, and take long rides in the bike trailer. He might try to swim in the pool, but we'd have to be sure his swimming skills are sufficient (doubtful). Does he like ice cream, too?

**this one just gave me the giggles...doesn't that sound fun?**

The sale is still on in the shop.
I will leave it going until the end of this week.
So stock up people!!
Get those travelers, smappies, and bunnies
---what else do i have over there?-
oh, mermaids, and cats.... out of my house!!
They need some good love gals.
They need some great experiences.
They need to move on!!
Help them out would ya?
don't make them beg.
Thanks for playing everyone. Thanks for letting me into your summer plans, family adventures, or just plain ol good hang'n out stuff. i loved reading them all and clicking over to some new links. Great blogs out there.
I will be of course checking my email all day long to see if i am the lucky recipient of something fantastic.

Have a great WINNER of a day!!!

I can see Clearly now...

well, sort of. That is why the background is grey now. i am in the grey zone. we have this monster of a moniter set up right now. Serious. Didn't realize how large it really was. It goes from the back to the edge of the desk. Plus, to make it extra special it has sort of a rounded screen, so everything is a little bit big, i guess. I can't find things, i am dissoriented as to where things are on the screen. Change is hard. It will take awhile to get used to...or maybe we should just spend a bit and get something that fits the space and isn't screaming in my face big letters. geeze.

This is what we woke up to today:

there are actually 3 and they spent most of the morning roaming, and sleeping, and laying under one of the trees in the back. they are so funny. the chickens get closer than anyone. They share the same grazing grass area. Maybe they even fight for over the winter apple goooo too.

Over the weekend i got:

Garage sale goodies. yup, feed sacks (white with printed words), buttons, some hankies, a couple of vintage table clothes, some crochet lace, and a large pieces of nice, good fabric and a couple yards of fusible fleece. good stuff i know.
Some goodies in the mail:

Lynette Anderson sent me some patterns! i won a twitter drawing. Very cute, Very fun. can't decide which to do...decisions.
Speaking of decisions. How about a winner?
It seems that the one that will win is Fairy Child. She has the two rows done and is working on the others. yay!! Let me know which pattern you would like and it will be on your way via email!
Next month i think that i'll put a little packette together. How about that? Is that more of an incentive for those non sharers? come on. play nice.

**Thanks a bunch for the help on the selling things. It really helped, and i will give a few things a go this weekend....XOXO**

Drawing a Blank

So there weren't any names to put into the drawing for me to pick from :( well, ok. there was me and i keep winning things, but i already have in my collection a nice set of patterns from the shop, so i can't choose anything.

I know that everyone is busy, so maybe we'll all find some extra time this month to finish some up and post our doings. I'm not giving up. You can't make me give up that soon...

I know this whole Cranky thing is a hard one. It's hard not to have a real pattern, and it's hard to find time, and it's just plain ol hard to keep up with life. So don't fear.... I'll have a drawing (hopefully will) each month, so play along, and win something!

Enough of that. Let's talk about something positive....With the warming of the weather...spring is on her way, there comes the best early saturday morning activity---garage sales!! They are few in numbers, but that doesn't mean they have few things to sell.

I got around 5 yards of a nice blue linen piece $1, 1 yard of tan linen 50 cents, some extra spectacular tiger stuff 50 cents, and 2 sewing books.

The white book -stitch something special is from like the 70s and has some great little projects i might have to give a try. the stitched with love is a wonderful book...but guess what? the patterns are on the cd and the cd isn't with the book. :( why does a book writer do that? i need to google it and see if i can find some of the patterns, if not i might have to resort to doing them my way.....not the cranky way though.

How about another positive thing:
Tomorrow i am showing off a new pattern!!
It is a Baby Quilt Pattern.
I have shown a few sneak peaks before...want another one? ok. fine
you gals are so bossy you know...

Should i do a give away too? You'll have to come back and find out....hee hee

Lucky Me

I AM THE WINNNER!!! Boy, 2 in one month? That is the Luck of the Irish isn't it? But, i'm not Irish.....hhhhmmm. Well, I'll take it anyways.
Want to see what i won?
Checkout Girl does some fantastic felt work. I can either have a family portrait done, or our home. It is really hard to decide. We have moved 9 times in the 13 years of marraige. So do we do the home we are in? will we be here for a long time? Honey is a builder--see the problem? Family portrait. Everyone changes. Still cool though. I am totally EXCITED. ....can you tell?

What have I been working on? Well, I haven't cleaned anything else in the sewing room :( But i have been working on a few Birthday presents for this weekend:
This is for my turning 7 little niece:

She has a reversible skirt, little shoes, a felted wool dress, and of course a little messenger bag to carry her treasures in. Think she'll like her? She is made with 100% wool suiting (from men suits) samples. Love those 6X9 things. I am going to ask for some more. I can see another addiction coming.....somebody stop me.

This little Fly guy is for my nephew who will be turning 14. Do you think this is ok? We are going to give a box of girl scout cookies with it.

Not too immature do you think? For me to send? I mean i have stuffed guys on our bed too. gosh. I did see this on the internet and kind of did my own thing....of course he is all wool again. Suitings and sweaters, oh and even a wool pant. He has a red wool pocket on his front to tuck his many hands in. Love it!!

And my Andy's are almost ready to go....just a few more things. They got their faces finished. Now they can see all the crazy action in the home. oh, the stories all the stuffed guys in our lives can tell....

*****On A CRANKY NOTE*****

There are currently 3 members of the Cranky Flickr Group. One of which is ME. and no one has shared a pic .....yet....Don't let me win my own prize girls. I am Lucky don't you know....

Links, winner, swaps, and snow bunnies

ok, all you lurkers...i guess you all got together and decided that Amy would love to have the pocket people....so

The winner is AMY!!! She has the second largest pocket people collection in the World. This will just further her advancement above everyone else. :) Mine is the first--but hers are actually finished!) congrats and i will be sending those on over to you pretty soon.
Lurkers- go to her link. she had a great christmas of handmade.
I thought that i would catch myself and everyone else up on the swaps. I haven't reported a few.
Cupcake Swap. This was really a lot of fun to do. This is what i recieved:

a cute cupcake corispondance package. It has the cute chenille fabric outside with cupcake flannel and ric rac embelishments. Plus a ribbon yo-yo closure. very cute.

Inside: writting supplies. A tablet of pink paper, a journal, a pen, a letter opener, and the cutest cupcake cards and tags (see them on the left?) I should have shown them off better. Way cute!! oh, and please notice the crocheted pink and chocolate cupcake pincushion. love it!!
Please don't be angry with me--- i lost her name and her link. how could i do that? how rude. Well, if you are reading this---please post so we may all know who you are- and i can be reminded. sorry, but i still love it. thanks!!
Up next: SSCS or Secret Santa Christmas Swap
Look at all those goodies. A cookie cutter, some wayyyy cute buttons, 12 days of Christmas the Australian way, a calendar (lives at the computer now so i know what day it is), a little tour info book and take a look at this:

A Christmas stitchery!! and the star hanger even came with it!! yay!!! look at the cute buttons too. Great job and it is hanging in the living room right now above the fireplace. Thank you Thank you. My secret giver was the chocolate cat. I couldn't find a link for her either :( again--post if you would like us to come visit in blogland. we love little trips. missing in photo: chocolates. of course there is no excuse except for eating them. mmmm chocolate....

Take a peak here if you would like to see what i sent my secret partner. This was sooo fun. To have a little extra under the tree and really not have any idea what was in it!!

I also recieved one of the three bits and pieces swap. When i get the other 2 i will post those all together. Fun stuff!!

I also put a few new snow bunnies in the shop. The other ones got sold and went to new owners and so here are some new ones. Ready and waiting for a new snuggler.

And of course if you would like to narrow the gap of Amy's pocket people collection hop on over to the shop for your own.

I am supposed to be picking up and cleaning the house today and tomarrow. We have a new years party here for family and friends every year. Nothing big, just 2 ping pong tables, food for a lot of people, treats, drinks, maybe a movie, games and of course conversations!! If there is any one in the near visinity of us that would like to swing by go ahead!!

kids are definitly allowed and your ticket for entrance is a smile and a plate of goodies

:) mmmmm

is it really that late?
