8th Day of Giveaway

So this is the 8th day of the 10 day of 10 winners!!! Each day until January 4th {launch date} there will be a giveaway! Some lucky girl will win a free membership to
Patchwork Posse ......anystitch, anytime, anywhere.

That's right--FREE!!!! So there are 10 days--and there will be 10 winners! I am soooo excited girls.

Let's find out who are the top notch designers today...shall we?
Each month there will be an interview with the designer that will be joining us. They will give us a little insight in their life and their crafty hobby.  I love these don't you? I always like to find out 'secret' things about others---ok, fine I am a snooper...like you didn't already know that. anywhosies.
After their interview they will share with use the topic of conversation for the month. Every little hint, tip and suggestion is helpful to us crafty girls! I am always reading blogs, following links, and picking up new books constantly to keep up on the new stuff and get better at the old stuff.  I love finding out what their technique is and how they do it just a bit different---sometimes we just don't get how to do it one way, but change it up a bit and voila! it is our next passion. I love it when that happens. So Patchwork Posse is here to help it happen to you!!
And last, but definitly not least---a project!!!  I can't help myself but to share new things! I have learned this the last 1 1/2 years with the blog---sharing makes you happy!! Try it, it does......

So there will be at least 14 NEW and EXCLUSIVE to patchwork posse PATTERNS & PROJECTS!!! yay!!!  I am so excited for these! They are very diverse and aren't strictly quilting either.   There are bags, pincushions, quilts, table runners, aprons, hot pads, the list goes on....and even a bit of embroidery too!  It dibbles and dabbles in different sewing areas---to help you out of your comfortable zone or rutt.  Fills your mind with inspiration and a positive flow of sewing energy! sounds very green doesn't it?
So here they are--the designers:

Isn't that the best line up!!! I am sooo excited to share what they have --to share!! Everyone is so different in their projects and patterns--yet, they are all sewers and crafters and that is what sticks us all together.

9th Day Giveaway

9th Day of giveaway----

Each day until January 4th there will be a giveaway! Some lucky girl will win a free membership to

......anystitch, anytime, anywhere.

That's right--FREE!!!! So there are 10 days--and there will be 10 winners!
*All posts will be left open until January 4th!! Should be plenty long to get those entries in!!

*Winners will be announced January 4th!! the first day of Patchwork Posse weeee haaaa!!!

Let me tell you a bit about the membership if you choose to come join me and the rest of the posse. Right now the membership is $40.00 for the whole year.  {price will be rising in Februay} That includes everything, and is a one time fee. That's it. I have counted how many patterns and it is over 14! Wow!! There is definitly enough to pick and choose or do them all!!! hee hee And all the patterns are provided by top-notch designers 4 months before they are released to the public! I love that!!! It's like we are a secret pattern society......or posse.

Now enough about money---how will patchwork posse work for me? Well, I find it hard sometimes to find the time to attend my local quilt/sewing groups on a monthly basis. We are busy people girls aren't we? sometimes there are others {family} who take priority and over rule us running out the door to surround ourselves with others with the same interestes and hobbies. This is where Patchwork Posse comes in.
It is a customizable sewing group!! Each month there will something wonderful happening there. There will be projects, interviews with designers, and patterns that are made specifically for the group and are not available to the public!!!  Everything there is done at your own pace, at your own time and in your own home!  Do you want to see what kinds of things we will be doing?

I decided back in October to do an Online Sewing Group ~~~Patchwork Posse~~~ It has taken me this long with MANY helpers to get this thing on track. I am so greatful and thankful for them all!!! Bobbin Tamers

Here is a little ditty--

Bobbin Tamers
They are to keep all the strings on the bobbin in line of course ......but secretly they are little fuzzy hair ponietail holders. Shhh. don't tell.

Here is how they work---- take your bobbin and wrap your bobbin tamer around the outside once or twice if it is a small bobbin. It will keep your strings from grabbing each other. It works even better on clear bobbins so you can see the thread color!

I found my bobbin tamers at Walmart- but i know that all a dollar carries them occassionally too.  You want the smallest ones. They will stretch with use.

Pop a bunch in a little ziploc baggie, a plastic baby food container, or a cute tin.....and label them.
Perfect little stocking stuffer too. Don't ya think?

Starting the 26th of December
I know it is the day after christmas--but what can i do?
that is 10 days from the 'big day'

10 Day/10 Winners
A lot will be going on and changing around here----
You don't want to miss out on the fun,
updates and all the new stuff!!!

Kitchki Pin Cushions

I saw the cutest small porcelein, kitchki -is that what those type of things called?, vintage pincushions...... at a boutique recently and thought---those are sooo cute! I really wanted one, but missed my chance to buy one and so here goes - Make it yourself!

You first need to shop the Thrift stores-  or maybe your grandmas house or where ever you can find a nice little collection of porcelein containers. They can be really anything. Just think- will this hold a stuffed little ball of wool or cotton? I went for the glass, porcelein ones. There is a lot out there right now that are resin, but i don't like that look as much as the glass kind. If you think it can work - get it!

Here is my stash before the transformation. They were all under $1.00! can't beat that!
There were the 3 that had no lids on them anymore. The 2 little teacups are handpainted and signed! that is kind of fun. The little boy- I think he is a flower container. The chimney stack will soon be stuffed! and the duck- just so 1980's especially with the bow! but he has a hollow back and soon it - he- will be stuffed too! hee hee

After picking your favorites out and bringing them home you need to stuff them.

Stuffing: I used that wonderful wool stuffing that i got at the garage sale. It is soooo dense. You can really minipulate it's shape, much different from polyfil.
Outside: I used felted wool sweaters. I thought that they might look a bit cuter than cotton in these. You really could use whatever you have on hand though.

I cut the wool and then sewed two edges, turned it right sides out, and then stuffed it! I stuffed it a lot! Then i jammed it into the holes, making sure that the seams were underneath and tucked in the sides so only a smooth top showed. If it didn't make a nice rounded hill, then i would remove the tube, stuff some more and go jamming it back in again. I didn't use any glue {at first i thought i would} and they stayed in their place pretty good.  {I think really because they were so jammed with stuffing} I think also that the ones missing lids had an edge on the top {where the lid would sit} so that helped keep all that inside. A smooth side would definitly not hold the cushion down and in.

See what you get when finished:

His chimney was very deep, so i left the green flower {i can't think of that name--} stuff inside and just jammed the top bit full of the wool and wool stuffing.

I decided to just leave his bow and add a red pin cushion.

So, if you are in need of a cute and quick little sewing present....go take a look around....and make yourself a little something. Share it if you do!!

I have a few of these goodies in the Shop---if you don't want to hunt and stuff.....

Altered Christmas Doll Swap

I participated in the Altered Christmas Doll Swap and i loved it!! I thought-sure i have never done that before, why not give it a go?  I know she has arrived to her new home safely and wanted to share and couldn't wait anymore.
I looked and looked at the thrift stores for just the right gal. that was tough let me tell you. So many were calling from the shelves!
This is who i ended up buying:

She is an Avon Doll. {Didn't know there was such.}

The dress was in good shape and nothing broken on her. First i started with finding and trying out a few different things....pom poms, fuzzy thread, flowers, buttons...everything! It was actualy pretty fun to audition multiple things and see what she really wanted done to her. I didn't end up adding a whole bunch, but what i did - i love!

front

back.

I used some vintage clip on earings for the back of the bow center and her crown in her hair. I added a bit of pink ribbon on the bottom of her dress, a big ribbon-lace bow, a tiny doily butterfly on her front, and some flowers for her to hold. She had a blue ceramic headband that i covered with the sparkly white thread and put some more around her waist with a tiny button in the center. Not that you can't see all of that already. I should just be quiet so you can look for yourself. shhhh.

Doesn't she seem happy now? Oh, i hope she is......

Mine have arrived!! They came yesterday!! They are so cute. I love them ---both, yes both!! 2

This is just like me, to get stuck in the 'doll' part and then get surpised by someone who thinks outside of the box! I am so lucky she does! Thanks a suber bunch Molly!!!

Thier feathers and extra little aprons are so cute! I saw a few of these in an old wire lampshade as their cage. I am on the lookout for one...... How did you know i needed birds? Thanks Molly!! They are perfect.

Wanna see the rest of the group? The whole swap? Click here!! There are some really goodies.

Starting the 26th of December I will have a
10 Day/10 Winners
for Patchwork Posse.
A lot will be going on and changing around here----
You don't want to miss out on the fun,
updates and all the new stuff!!!

I of course will be blogging normaly fun sewing stuff in between now and then. Don't you worry about that--

And Don't Forget-----
I am compiling a list of the best patterns so everyone can have a

Round 2 & Making a List

Last night was the second Christmas dinner party for Quilt Group!! We did a teatowell exchange also-round 2----i don't mind, my home has lots of areas that need a towell.  i tell you! Here is the one i sent:
oh man, no photo. It was cute too! it was pink with a cupcake on it and a cute fabric strip in it. sorry about that. But here is the one i left with:

I have some wonderful show and tell too!! How about a finished cranky quilt!!! i love these. This group was so fun to go along with me and actually finish them. All of them have turned out so cute!

Do you want to make your own? Click here
There was also 2 of these chocolate quilts:
.
oh my heck isn't that just cute?! and yummy?!
Want to make your own? Click here.

We got some goodies ....they were all decked out on the tables cute like.

a wooden snowman, a little bowl with candies {can make a pin cushion inside it} and a bag with a neat story and a bell and come candy! they made the tables look all festive and stuff. Very nicely done!

Julie also gave me an extra little goodie for doing the Cranky Quilt. some gloves -just in time too! i put a pair on and the thumb had a hole...and some yummy lotion. i love that stuff don't you?!
I have some more Show and Tell. Not my stuff, but wish it was...

Kaeffe prints. isn't that just super cool?!

old maids puzzle. There are two blocks of each pattern and then one of the one pattern. Tricky...we might be doing this as a block of the month in the local quilt group next year! i would love to!!

Simple and wonderful all together.

The gal that we had the dinner at had some great decorations and little things i just really liked.
 So i am sharing them!

These stocking looked needle turned. I don't do that....but there are other methods-

She had random doll beds with mini quilts on them, of course! i might have to steal that one and do it myself. I love it!

And of course i had to sneak a pic of her sewing shelf by the chair.

Sometimes i feel like i am snooping through the bathroom cupboards, but come on we are all girls here and it is nice to see it out and i am sure that it gets used- alot.

Speaking of some great patterns---
I am compiling a list of the best patterns so everyone can have a
"Make it yourself"
homemade Christmas!!
I have my own, but want to share what else is out there.....so
Do you have a
pattern/tutorial to share?
Is there a pattern/tutorial
that you found in the web world that you love?
 Want to pass it along?
These can be either
patterns to buy,
or free tutorials.
Send me the link of the pattern and a link for you.
You can also write a quick summary of the pattern.
Feedback -don't we all love that?!
I would love to include them
and give you credit.
