There was some advice on One Pretty Thing a few days ago about selling at craft shows. It's true, though, the economy is rotten. But I think people will still buy a good quality, hand-made item at a fair price. Better luck!MissesStitcheshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16468039705091019881noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5121848802412861784.post-30467240287403816042009-04-20T09:24:00.001-06:002009-04-20T09:24:00.001-06:00wow, I didn't realize how long my comment was!wow, I didn't realize how long my comment was!Amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08006531279983924071noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5121848802412861784.post-88492489473095389032009-04-20T09:24:00.000-06:002009-04-20T09:24:00.000-06:00Becky, that sucks! I've done some shows before where I haven't even made enough to cover the fee.

It may not even be what you are selling or your display, this economy stinks! I love your things, I think they are adorable!
And your prices are awesome!

I have had shows that I don't do well at all, some that I do okay at, and some that I do great at. I think sometimes it is learning where and when your products sell better, which honestly at times can not be fun.

The only things I can think of, would be see if there is a different way to display them on your table, and I really liked your cool branch stand. I liked the shelf you used at Sweet Tweets because you could see the entire animal. How you set up at Art Market was cute too, with things in the baskets, and sitting around too. Maybe try to get more levels.
Maybe even a bright tablecloth to draw people's attention?

I don't know if any of this helps, I know it can be discouraging, hopefully you will do better at the next shows!

If you want, I could come over and we could play around with your display a bit, not like I am a display expert, but maybe we could figure something out!Amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08006531279983924071noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5121848802412861784.post-20266143298402040872009-04-20T09:14:00.000-06:002009-04-20T09:14:00.000-06:00Becky--I've always wondered how anyone in Utah mak...Becky--I've always wondered how anyone in Utah makes anything on hand-mades because everyone just looks at things and says, "oh, I'll just make it myself." I think that's a lot of it. My friend who lives in Kentucky has sold several tied quilts because no one knows how to make them and they just want something that is already finished. She told me she NEVER would sell them in Utah because everyone either knows how to make them already or will learn how. Don't give up--next time will be better. Your stuff is darling!! Can you do a few more and experiment to try to work out why people aren't buying? Maybe bring your prices down for one market to see the effect. Selling your stock too cheaply isn't going to be a long term solution, but at least you could get an idea of how your price point affects sales. Maybe fiddle with the display/presentation on a different occasion to see if that has any effect. Don't give up anyway!

Good luck with the next market :)

AnnabelAnnabelhttp://bella-bellas.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5121848802412861784.post-2529814771127102902009-04-19T20:36:00.000-06:002009-04-19T20:36:00.000-06:00Ohhhh, I'm so sorry that happened to you! the fir...Ohhhh, I'm so sorry that happened to you! the first boutique I participated in I didn't sell a single thing! (and so I lost money because I paid the participation fee) I cried the entire 35 minute drive home, and for several days after that. :(

I look for cute stuff at decent prices which you already have that covered. sometimes everyone has a little bad luck. good luck at the next one!

:) MissyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
